Fruit thinning is the most successful EUFRIN working group within the EUFRIN network founded in the HortiBonn department in the past century. The results presented in the working group by the international scientific community get published in Acta congress proceedings every two years. This year’s meeting that took place in Belgrade, Serbia, February 26-28th 2026, was dominated by Accede, a new product that is currently under registration and based on the ethylene precursor ACC. Its applications in apple orchards are typically conducted until 20 mm fruit size. Dr. Anton Milyaev and Dr. Michael Blanke of HortiBonn presented results from fruit thinning trials at Campus Klein-Altendorf (CKA) – a research station of the University of Bonn, Germany. The participants had a chance to visit one of the most advanced apple producers in Serbia – PIK Južni Banat, with 250 ha of apple orchards.
